- Dolce Gabbana Clear Orange Jacket Spring 2012
We’re seeing clearly now. The transparent plastic trend has made itself clearly visible on runways from New York to Milan, and all we have to say is: Shower curtains beware. Designers are after you. We spotted Jourdan Dunn wrapped in what looked like packing plastic at Marc Jacobs. (It was actually a skirt, but we doubt this one will make it into production.) Over in Milan, Dolce & Gabbana sent out two looks that were made of transparent orange plastic, which we suspect isn’t exactly practical for wicking away the Milanese humidity. Maison Martin Margiela showed a clear poncho, which is both practical and impractical: If it rains, it’ll keep your Margiela safe; but if it doesn’t you’ll likely be soaked in sweat. A clear conundrum, to say the least.
