Fall Into the Season: Our Top Picks for Fall Under $100

Fall into our picks!

Fall is in the air…somewhere. While we sweat out the last days of an Indian summer here in Los Angeles, elsewhere, girls are putting their sundresses and sandals into storage and we’re pulling out cozy knits and more tailored pieces. Fall staples are marked by heavier fabrics and heavier price tags, but we’ve gathered together our top ten, and none of them ring up at more than $100. Grab one or two to update your wardrobe or get each and every one for a complete seasonal overhaul. We promise you’ll look like a million bucks while spending just a Benjamin.

J. Crew Camo Tee

J. Crew Camo Tee

Let’s start with a quick transition piece. Throw on the J. Crew Camo Tee ($49.50) with your cutoffs (if you haven’t retired them for the season) or with jeans when the lower temps arrive. We love it peeking out from under a sharply tailored blazer or a chunky cardigan, especially if it’s super fluffy and feminine. Wear it often, wash it until it’s super soft and it’ll be a year-round go-to no matter where you live. Don’t be afraid of the bold print. Just treat it like a neutral and wear it with greys, blacks, navies and more.

Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream

Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream

When fall comes around, there’s a sea change in the world of beauty. We all put our glosses and cream blushes away and go matte. If the runways are any indication of what’s to come, we’re all about to embrace a new semi-matte velvet finish, which is exactly what the Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream ($28) offers. Like all of Bite’s products, the Lip Cream is made in small batches with a combo of edible butters, waxes and oils that all melt at different rates, giving you a long-lasting product in a unique cream-to-powder finish. We’re suggesting the burnt orange shade, Sherry, or the on-trend wine color, Port.

Madewell Oh Dear Sweater

Madewell Oh Dear Sweater

Last year, we sang the praises of the animal sweater. Well, the trend hasn’t gone anywhere. Thanks to big brands such as DvF, Burberry and more, the cuddly trend is still going strong. But instead of a fluffy rabbit or cuddly cat, we’ll opt for the Madewell Oh Dear Sweater ($88).

For those girls who like big bucks and cannot lie, it’s the perfect piece to add to your fall staples. Over a chambray (so Madewell) or alone, it’s a statement-making sweater that’ll show that you buck trends and go for classics with a twist.

Gap Skinny Mini Moto Skimmer Khakis

Gap Skinny Mini Moto Skimmer Khakis

During the summer, New Englanders embrace something they love to call the go-to-Hell pant. That means that instead of white linen or pastel seersucker, they’re grabbing for bright primary colors, sun-faded bricks (the trad Nantucket red) and bleached-out olives in addition to anything embroidered with critters, crustaceans or nautical motifs. For fall, pair any of our picks with the Gap Skinny Mini Moto Skimmer Khakis ($59.95). The bright, brash orange is anything but subtle, but you’ll be surprised at just how easy they are to integrate into your wardrobe. Animal sweaters, camo t-shirts and just about anything else will look great with these statement-making skinnies. With on-trend moto detailing, they’ll be catching eyes for more reasons than just their striking color.

DV by Dolce Vita Joust

DV by Dolce Vita Joust

One of fall’s most telling signals is the transition from gladiators and flip flops to booties and boots. Throwing a bootie on with a summer outfit is one way to instantly give it a more autumnal feel — just imagine Alexa at music festivals or Zooey Deschanel heading to Whole Foods. The DV by Dolce Vita Joust ($89) is a sleek, simple bootie that you’ll be able to wear with everything. The stacked heel and zip-fringe detail are something you’d find on a more substantial (and more expensive) bootie from say, Rag & Bone, but these come at a fraction of the price and give you the exact same look.

LOFT Floral Scroll Print Sweater

If you’re not into wearing an animal on your sleeve, another huge trend for fall is print. One of the most prominent is the wallpaper print, giving this LOFT Floral Scroll Print Sweater ($59.50) major style points for a budget-friendly price. The subtle, monochromatic scheme give you license to take this cozy staple from work to cocktail hour without missing a beat.

Benefit Rockateur Boxed Blush

Benefit Rockateur Boxed Blush

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean that all your makeup has to be completely matte. Benefit has released their latest boxed blush (and of course, there was a beauty blogger frenzy to go with it), the Rockateur ($28). It’s a super-trendy rose gold that’s designed to turn heads whether you’re on stage rocking out or just out grabbing a pumpkin spice latté. Sweep it on your cheeks for a music video-worthy glow, which is just the thing to pair with matte lips.

Michael Stars Wild Frontier Eternity Scarf

Michael Stars Wild Frontier Eternity Scarf

We’re guilty of tossing a scarf on when it’s not actually scarf weather. What can we say, we’re suckers for accessorizing. But now that it’s cool enough to actually need a scarf, we’ll be throwing on the super-soft Michael Stars Wild Frontier Eternity Scarf ($38). Just like the name implies, it’s got an infinite number of looks. For fall, we’ll be wearing it with the darker, plum shade out front, but as soon as it warms up again, we’ll flip the ring to the lighter lilac side. And between? There’s a myriad of half-and-half and not quite this-or-that combos that can happen between the two.

Club Monaco Amelia Color Block Belt

Club Monaco Amelia Color Block Belt

Color-blocking isn’t a trend. It’s something that’ll always be in style. With that being said, we can confidently recommend the Club Monaco Amelia Color Block Belt ($98.50) as a season-less wardrobe staple. Cinch your sweater dresses with it and give yourself a flash of color (and an instant waist) or wear it with a flowing blouse for a little more flair. The color combination is fall-friendly and won’t look out of place any other time of year either.

Tinley Road Lauren Tote

Tinley Road Lauren Tote

There’s something about a new bag that can lift your spirits and make all your clothes look great again, no matter how long they’ve been hanging in your closet. Fall’s biggest trends include multi-media construction, meaning bags are puzzled together from a variety of different leathers and materials, and gusseted sides. Thank Céline for that detail. The Tinley Road Lauren Tote ($95) checks all of fall’s boxes with its textured faux-leather panels and contrasting black side gussets. Stuff it full (there are side pockets, too) with your computer, tablet, a few mags and more and you’ll have everything you need all in one place.
