Bluemercury might be new to L.A., but everywhere else, it’s about as common as Sephoras and Space.NK. Established in Washington, DC, the store has been steadily expanding for the last few years — especially after an acquisition from Macy’s — but strangely, L.A. was not on the books until now. San Francisco-area beauty junkies had to trek to Corte Madera to get their fix, too, so it wasn’t just SoCal babes waiting with bated breath. Now that the shop is open on tony Montana Avenue, expect to find plenty of makeup artists and their celeb clients browsing Bluemercury’s signature mix of skincare and color cosmetics. You can also book a treatment, since the store pioneered in-store services such as oxygen facials, glycolic peels, microdermabrasion, waxing and more. Back in 1999, it was revolutionary. Today, it’s par for the course, and nobody does it like Bluemercury. Book a quick facial and browse the latest releases from big names such as Trish MacAvoy, Bobbi Brown and Tom Ford alongside niche brands such as L.A.’s Smith & Cult, Serge Lutens, Creed and more.
There’s a mix of beauty, skincare (including Bluemercury co-founder Marla Beck’s skincare line M-16) as well as home fragrances from Diptyque, Nest and more. In short, if your usual beauty spots are getting a little too crowded, Bluemercury might just be the breath of fresh air you’ve been looking for.
