The Jazz Age Returns to the Runways with Flapper Inspired Designs

Polish up your moves, because you’ll be doing the Charleston this spring if designers have their way.  All the flapper-inspired looks we saw on the runways had us kicking up our heels. At Marc Jacobs, embroidery and drop waists were a common thread, while Ralph Lauren (who outfitted the original Redford-fronted Gatsby film) showed flapper dresses and long Deco-embellished gowns that would be perfect for Carey Mulligan’s Daisy Buchanan. Carolina Herrera brought the trend into the present with a modern take on  the embellished tank and drop-waisted skirt look, the perfect thing to wear to a garden gala whether you’re an East Egg native or a modern-day flapper.
