What puts you in the mood for spring more than the thought of a spring break getaway? While not all of us have the luxury of that week off (remember the good old days?) we can dress the part in one of New York Fashion Week’s cheeriest trends: Hawaiiana.

Two of the biggest names in fashion enlisted Nars to give their girls an outerworldly glow. At Rodarte, there was heavy smoke and at Marc Jacobs, there was a lightness that left us breathless.

Maybe it’s Baz Luhrmann’s new Gatsby re-make that is giving designers a case of jazz-era fever, but we spotted drop-waist and flapper detailing galore at New York Fashion Week.

’90s fun was the keyword at Rag & Bone and sleek, origami-inspired hair stole the show for us at Zero + Maria Cornejo.

Bye, bye hair doldrums. Hair color just got a little wilder for spring 2012. Who knows, this might be the trend for you!

The makeup looks at Philip Lim and Thakoon had models floating on air and tackling the wild wild west, by way of the spice markets in India. Ahh, fashion!
