Monday Muse: Erin Fetherston’s Vintage Revival

Erin Fetherston Fall 2016

Erin Fetherston Fall 2016

A very pregnant Erin Fetherston showed her fall 2016 collection just a few days before her due date. And in making room for the new babe, she found inspiration for the presentation. How? While going through her vast collection of vintage clothes — the sad truth is that babies come before thrifted treasures — she remembered the joy of the hunt and the unparalleled ecstasy of finding something after months and months of searching. She wanted to capture that feeling in her collection, and through special shapes and fabrications, she did just that.

“It was a really nostalgic trip down memory lane,” Fetherston told Vogue. “I rediscovered all these beloved pieces, and the memories attached to them.”

A vintage velvet blazer inspired a velvet suit and an overall dress (paired with a bow blouse that harkened back to Fetherston’s first collections). Other pieces, done in velvet, crochet and lace, corduroy, and black brocade made separates seem extra-special, though Fetherston’s core clientele will no doubt flock to the feminine frocks and maxi-dresses.

With three labels under her belt (her main line, contemporary dress line ERIN Erin Fetherston and an ongoing collab with lingerie brand Cosabella) and a new baby, there is plenty of opportunity for Fetherston’s fans to get a piece to treasure. But instead of scouring thrift stores, vintage shops and consignment spots, they’ll find plenty to hold onto right in this collection.
